Who we are

Circuit Review is a two-person shop that has been testing consumer hardware since 2019. We publish roughly forty in-depth reviews a year — far fewer than the big sites, because we keep every device on our desks for at least two weeks before writing a word. That constraint is the whole editorial position: we would rather be late and right than first and vague.

What we cover

Phones, laptops, headphones, wearables, cameras and the parts of the smart home that are not a solution in search of a problem. We do not cover anything we cannot buy, live with and hand back an honest verdict on. If a category is missing from the site, it is because we have not put in the time yet, not because nobody asked.

How we pay for it

Reader subscriptions and affiliate links. We buy the majority of what we test at retail, which is slower and considerably more expensive than the alternative and is the reason our review of a launch product usually appears a fortnight after everyone else’s. When a manufacturer does send a loan unit, we say so at the top of the review and we send it back.

Affiliate links never influence a score, an ordering or whether something gets covered at all. The people who write the reviews do not see the affiliate figures, which is the only arrangement we have found that actually works rather than merely sounding good in a disclosure.

What we will not do

  • Publish a review of something we have not used ourselves.
  • Accept payment, hospitality or exclusivity in exchange for coverage.
  • Send a draft to a manufacturer before publication.
  • Quietly change a score after the fact — corrections are logged in the open.

Getting it wrong

We do, regularly. Firmware changes, a unit turns out to be faulty rather than representative, or we simply miss something. When that happens we update the piece, date the change and say what was wrong at the top. A review that has never been corrected is usually a review nobody checked.

Behind this page

What this page covers — About Us
Where this page sits in the reference library.

This reference page is written from the same testing notes as the reviews it supports, and it is revised whenever the hardware or the software underneath it changes. Where a figure appears here it has been measured rather than quoted from a specification sheet.

If something on this page no longer matches what you are seeing, it is out of date rather than disputed — tell us and it gets checked again.

The reviews this page supports go into the measurements behind these figures, and the knowledge base collects every reference page we keep.
